वशेदं सर्वं भवतु यावतु सूर्यो विपश्यति ॥
The Gods and men live on cow products. Till the Sun shines, the universe will have Cows. The whole universe depends on the support of cow.
The Vedic texts consider Kamadhenu (wish fulfilling cow) as the mother of all cows. The cows have been worshipped since ages as the earthly embodiment of the Kamadhenu. She is venerated as the universal Mother who fulfils all desires. When a mother is unable to feed her child a cow’s milk suffices the requirement.
The Shastras mention that there are innumerable energy frequencies in the universe. Out of those, 33 crore energy frequencies or Gods and Goddesses are important for maintaining all the life forms on the earth and they are all present in the cow. The Puranas state that cow is dearest to Shri Krishna – the physical manifestation of supreme consciousness.
The followers of the Vedas revere the cows not only due to the religious mandate but also for the fact that the cow provides us with Goudughdha (milk), Goughruta (ghee), Goumutra (urine) and Goumeya (dung). These are used not only in various religious rituals but also to nourish and sustain ourselves in our day to day lives. Gaudaan is beneficial for the welfare and prosperity of not only the individual, his / her family but also for their departed ancestors.
