The Ratha Yatra

The Ratha Yatra marks the beginning of Lord Jagannath’s annual visit to Gundicha Mata Temple. The Ratha Yatra procession has the deities of Lord Jagannath along with his sister Devi Subhadra and brother Balabhadra. They stay at the Gundicha Mata Temple for nine days.

A day prior to the Yatra, the Gundicha Temple is cleaned for the devotees of Lord Jagannath.

The fourth day after the Ratha Yatra is celebrated as Hera Panchami. This is the day when it is believed Goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Jagannath visits Gundicha Temple looking for Lord Jagannath.
